Saddo // Interview
Age, location, education?

29 years old, Romanian artist, living in Berlin, I graduated the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

How long have u been living there?

I'm living in Berlin for a year now.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I don't know, it just comes and goes, usually I get inspired watching other artists paint or draw (my girlfriend for example), also by seeing works from different artists, sometimes just from random details in artworks or movies or reality, lines in books, or when I'm really tired and try to fall asleep images would pop in my head (but I never remember those, so I guess they don't count), but usually I never think too hard when I start working on a piece. I hardly think...ever...

What's your favourite color?

All of them.

When are you the most productive?

I couldn't figure by now, probably when I feel peaceful, or when I feel challenged, but I'm pretty moody, I have moments when I'm very productive and some days when I'm a lazy ass.

Where is your favourite vacation-spot?

I don't know....right now I'd like to go to Amsterdam, or in some small village in Germany, or....in my hometown in Romania.

What kind of music do you like?

Hip hop and soul and a little bit of jazz and delta blues and some electronic stuff and classical music in the last few days. MF DOOM and all his personas, Blur, Stevie Wonder, A Tribe Called Quest, Madlib, Starkey, Flying Lotus, De La Soul, TV on The Radio, etc

Any exhibitions planned this year?

Hopefully one in Copenhagen pretty soon, one in Glasgow maybe, and one in New York, I'm not 100% sure about these but I hope they'll happen. Oh, and right now I'm in a show with a few friends (1010, Aitch, Dixon, Labrona, Noper, Other, Produkt), the show is called "AS IF BY MAGIC" and it's at Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin.

What is your favourite material to work on?

I like paper and wood and canvas and walls, right now I think it's wood and I'd go for some really big canvases for a change. And when the weather and everything will get better, I'll try to go out and paint some stuff on walls.

What are your tools? (special pens, colors etc.)

The regular stuff, lots of acrylic paints, paint markers, black and colored liners, a few spray paints, watercolors...
